My first Eyeko purchase and Boots vs. Superdrug

14.7.09

I have desperately been on the hunt for a concealer lately but haven't been particularly impressed by any that I've tried.

But then.. I was walking out of Superdrug last week when I noticed the tiniest shelf in a corner behind a stand which belonged to Eyeko!

I had been planning to make a purchase on the Eyeko website (using one of the ambassador codes to get a freebie) but Superdrug had an offer on Eyeko and there was about £1/£2 off everything.

The Touch Up & Go concealer was about £3.50 (normally £5.00) and straight away I was impressed, even just dabbing a bit on my hand! I decided to buy it and give it a whirl as it was so cheap.
.
It is perfect and covers my dark circles instantly. It glides on nicely and doesn't feel like it's just "sitting" on the surface.

Top marks for this, I love it!

I like the look of the 3 in 1 cream and the pale pink nail polish so I think they will be my next purchases! The cream is £6.00 and the nail polishes are £3.00 each.

Click here for the online store. There is free shipping worldwide too which I think is fab!

Also, I was in Superdrug today and I have to mention the terrible music in there. There was some sort of Amy Winehouse going on and I'm not lying, I could have done better myself. Do they do it on purpose as a joke!? (for people not in the UK, they play well-known songs covered by random singers who can't seem to sing).

There seemed to be 33% off nearly everything in there too! I picked up some of their Tea Tree sensitive cleansing wipes for around £1.40. They also have the new Garnier Pure Active range on offer. I want to try it but after my Clean & Clear disaster I'm scared to try anything too harsh. I like the look of the roll-on spot zapper though!

"Hi, I don't have any spots!"

I'm starting to prefer Superdrug to Boots, which makes me feel somewhat of a traitor. I used to work at Boots when I was studying in sixth form and I love the whole advantage card thing, but they just seem so pricey and don't have as many offers as Superdrug. If Superdrug got involved with Soap & Glory and Lee Stafford I would be fully converted!

Which do you prefer?

  3. haha i always notice the dreadful cover versions in there - so bad but they always make me smile!

i much prefer superdrug these days, the makeup ranges are better, and i think they generally have a better variety of stuff and definitely cheaper! x

  4. @hele - they distract me from browsing though! lol.

i agree the make-up is better. also, the barry m counter is boots is so bloody messy! superdrug is more tidy. xx

  5. I'm gonna say I prefer Superdrug to Boots these days too. I guess Boots is better if you want higher end stuff, but in Superdrug the make-up stands are better organised, there's more testers, I have even seen staff cleaning them on more than one occasion, though they do lose points for the music. Have you heard their rendition of The Tide is High...actually made me lol!
    xx

  6. @onyx - haha i haven't heard that one but the amy winehouse and james morrison are particularly horrendous! i might see if i can record a song for them, lol. xx

  7. I love superdrug :) It makes me very happy hehe! Boots used to be my fav but i am drawn to superdrug so much more!

And i am so so so glad you wrote on my page about your problems with blogger.... i thought with me just being a newbie that I was just being stupid with it, but i spend half an hour on it and it jumps all over the place with no spaces and i have no idea how to fix it :(

    xx

  8. @glitter&love - no don't worry, it's me aswell! it either puts double spaces in or no spaces at all and i can't stand either! i have to play around with it until it's right :) xx

  9. What I really hate is when singers make covers on songs and release them a single - they ruin good songs. For example the Westlife cover of Uptown Girl. Billy Joel was the original singer and he is such a great artisit. Another example is Beverly Nights cover of Peice of my heart. (no-one will ever be better than the original. lol)

I don't have a preference with Boots or Superdrug and a town that I usually visit boots and superdrug are literally accross the road from each other!

When I was younger I used to go with my friend and her family who went every week and I loved looking at the bath sets & gifts in there!

  10. Pure active range is ok but i used too many products of it in one go and it dried out my skin. I prefer the regular pure range facewash!

Great post.. was nice to come home and red it lol! I prefer superdrug as normally it has more stuff but then again no points card!! xx

  22. I was looking at that concealer the other day and was soo tempted to get it but i have far too many concealers at the go at the moment! I love both Superdrug and Boots, i dont know why but i kind of feel loyal to boots for some reason! I do love their advantage card system though! Great Post xx

  23. @holly - get it! go onnn! lol. it was quite a good price for such a good product. it works wonders on my dark circles. xx

  24. Oh Lord I know - the music is ATROCIOUS!!!

I think I am swaying to S'Drug more lately. They layout of the make ups are better than Boots too - the big Leeds Boots is all little off shelves if you get me whilst SD is just one nice big aisle to browse!!!

    xx

  25. @girlwiththegoldentouch - i find boots are always moving things round and the other day i struggled to find a couple of things, and the guy i asked was hopeless! xx

  26. Superdrug all the way - I used to be a Boots girl too but they just don't have as many make up brands. Boots are still better for hair care stuff though. Superdrug give you a voucher each time you go in that you can use to do a survey and then get a code for 10% off (when you spend over £10) quite handy if you love it!

  28. Going to Superdrug soon now to see if theres any Eyeko stuff, mine stocks tons of different make up ranges now!
Lol yeah they cant use the real songs coz they have to pay royalties otherwise, so the fake versions get put on... I used to work in a shop with them on, so got to hear them all day! Fun!

  29. I might take a look at that concealer.
I use YSL Touch Eclat for dark circles, but it can be a bit pricey to keep on buying and using everyday!

    @michelle - give them a whirl! xx

@lisajane - how did you cope hearing them all day! haha. xx
