Weight loss.... an update!

9.8.09

If you read my previous post about weight loss (here) you will know that I vowed to get on a health kick! Not so much dieting and cutting out food, but drinking lots of water, eating more fruit/veg and doing lots of exercise!

Well guys.. I'm a failure. There, I said it! I have failed at the first hurdle.

Just over a week later and I have done my workout dvd ONCE! I have had at least 2 McDonalds meals and a Chinese takeaway. I feel so ashamed :(

But, after going shopping today and not being able to squeeze into my usual size (thanks a lot Topshop sizing system, thanks a bunch!!) I am starting again with a whole new frame of mind.

Last week was a hectic week what with starting my new job and feeling a bit under the weather so the last thing I wanted to do was exercise and jump around like a crazy woman. But now I have got my first week of work over with and the nerves have subsided, I can focus on getting healthy and feeling better about myself.

This week I'm going to drink only water and tea :) No fizzy pop!
I am going to exercise every single day.
I am not going to skip breakfast.
I am going to eat more fruit.
I am going to motivate myself by looking at beautiful people with beautiful bodies, e.g.

I do have to add though, trying to attain a 'perfect' figure like these ladies puts a lot of pressure on people and it's important to remember that us normal folk don't have access to personal trainers every day, our own chef and we also don't have the pressure of knowing we will be photographed cellulite and all!

But using pics like this really motivate me to get off my butt and work out!!

Is anyone else trying to lose weight at the moment?

Whose figure do you admire?

  1. Starting tomorrow! I'm going to try and follow the south beach diet- I've discovered I need a structure, I can't just "eat healthily" and give myself treats. It just doesn't work, I'm heavier than ever! I just can't do breakfast though, I never know what to eat. I hate cereal. What are you going to have?

  11. I have about 3 mcDonalds and at least 1 chinese a week. Id die without my junk!! The body needs a cerain amount of fatty foods to keep working and to keep the metabolism kicking!

To lose weight (even though I think you look bloody fabulous as you already are!) NEVER eat fruit at night! Big misconception that is is a light dinner. Its pure sugar and the fiber in it is wasted.

Every time you eat a heavy meal have a STRONG cup of peppermint tea made with 2 bags. Not many people know that peppermint absorbs excess oils and fats in our digestive systems! That way you can have good food and feel like you did no damage!

  15. I plan to start when I move into my university house in September - at home it is too hard with mums cooking who won't take no for an answer! I am struggling to fit in some of my size clothes in shops at the moment too, but it has been a real kick up the butt!
I am going to start one of the Tesco diets online, they look really realistically set out and achievable. Worth having a look :) there are so many options e.g. "light choices, vegetarian, low carb" etc.. and you can also choose food preparation "quick and easy, cooking for family, cooking from scratch" etc.
Good luck with your weightloss, everyone has their off days and if you do fall off the wagon don't stay off it! xox

  16. Constantly, haha, ive been trying to lose weight since i was, well i dont even know, yearrrsss, im currently using these pills that my boyfriend ordered for me (hes very into body building so hes a good source!) which speed up your metabolism, absorb fat and heat upn your inner core to help you burrrrn it off, in conjunction with eating less and its going quite well! Although, theres a certain side effect im not going to mention, but it aint pretty!! haha. good luck xx

  17. If i were you, instead of having a few large meals i'd have lots of small ones; this constantly boosts your metabolism..
if you're planning on doing exercise, as well as cardio you could consider doing strength training as this will prevent injury and also the more muscle you have, the quicker and more efficiently you burn fat..

also i used to eat loads and loads of fruit, but try not to, as, although it's healthy....if you have loads it amounts to quite a few calories...as it's easy to eat a lot of fruit isn't it?! i could easily go through a packet of grapes and a few apples which would amount to a few hundred calories!

if you're going for a low calorie diet, mix it up a few times a week..lots of people that are on low calorie diets find they stop losing weight at a certain point, but then, if they say have fish and chips this boosts their metabolism and then they actually lose a bit of weight!

also try and change your exercise routine, if your body gets used to the exercise it finds the most efficient way of burning fat for the exercise you're doing, and thus, you don't lose as much..you could also google high intensity interval training, and/or tabata workouts which are hell, but extremely worthit!

sometimes i've lost a lb over night from doing one or two tabata sessions (and eating wisely of course too)

not that you need to lose weight anyway, you're gorgeous hun!
    xx

  18. i'm trying to lose weight too! but nando's is my one weakness, that i seem to visit about twice a week. bad times. but i've got a new reason to lose weight so the diet starts now! oh & btw you should get a chocolate smelling lipbalm as that makes you think about chocolate without actually eating it.

  19. Good luck sweetie! I myself am trying really hard as well! WE CAN DO IT! hehe

  21. I'm trying to just be a little more sensible, like you - not skipping brekkie etc.
I'd like to shed a few pounds before my holiday in a couple of weeks.

I love love love Jessica Alba and I think she has the perfect body.

  23. I personally think you are beautiful the way you are! However, we all have our goals and I am trying to approach mine in the same fashion as you. As for figures to admire, I admire so many - I would be here forever but the one that I admire most is Scarlett Johansson. Love the curves!

  24. That photo of Beyonce is HOT! I've been trying to lose some weight for a long time, the problem I have is actually STARTING a diet. Once I'm there, I'm ok. But I haven't been able to kick start my diet yet and I really need to! Argh it's driving me crazy, I wish I could just wake up and find that I've lost 9lbs overnight. *sigh* I blogged awhile ago about starting a diet, but then I also "failed". Reading your blog is a lot like reading my own!

  25. You know what really works? Wii Fit! No, I'm serious, I've lost a fair bit and tightened up in not long, and it's not too hard either! If you have a Wii, I definitely recommend getting it because it's the only way I've managed to motivate myself.

    And don't give up!

  26. I go to a dietition :) it doesn't cost anything and it really helps.. i think lily allen has an amazing figure at the moment & i'd kill for a figure like sophie ellis bextor but i think that one is a little far fetched ox

  27. jessica simpsons body in her boots were made for walking video makes me so envious!
i also think scarlett johansson has a gorgeous body becuase shes got curves (big boobs and hips) and i think the size 0 is great for fashion but for sex appeal it just isnt!!
Elisha Cuthbert in 'the girl next door' is probaby my most wanted body, she is gorgeous!

I want to loose weight and tone up too...its the bain of my life! its so hard to know what the best thing to do it because when people say eat healthy then you get others saying dont mix carbs with protein and dont eat loads of fruit, i wish there was just one way of loosing weight that worked!:) let me know how you get on maybe we could help each other:)xxx

  28. I started this week to lose weight because I thought enough is enough!
I bought a dvd off play.com called 10 minute solution and just do two of the workouts each day (as its ten minutes each) and just eating less. my weight gain was due to laziness! I've been kidding myself getting the next size up thinking "oh if its a size bigger it'll be longer" or " i prefer them baggier" I love kelly brook! She's just so slim but curvy!

  30. Ugh, I know exactly how you feel, I have totally fallen off the diet wagon and am going on holiday next week, not feeling that confident about being seen in a bikini. I will be getting back on the diet in September after I move house!
I love Beyonce, she has the perfect figure!

  33. Don't be too hard on yourself, remember if you set yourself goals which are too hard then you're more likely to fail!! I think aspiring to look like Beyonce or Jessica Simpson is good - they both work hard at their figures but keep their curves. Good luck and keep us updated x

  38. @gillian - she is stunning. i bet it is hard to maintain curves and still be slim. i'm either slim-ish or flabby! :S xx

@becky - you can still treat yourself! just balance it out the next day by having fruit and veggies. xx

@shangri la - i felt a bit like that on holiday. but once you get a tan you will feel great! xx

@pinkbow - the new job is quite handy because i'm too busy to snack/graze on food! xx
