New purchase: River Island Colour Block Maxi Dress

30.5.10

When I spotted Sunshine Sam in her new maxi dress I thought 'doesn't she look pretty!' but I decided that it wouldn't suit me and I should forget all about being a maxi-dress-wearer this Summer.

However, when I spotted it on the rails in River Island I decided to try it on and alas, it looked fabulous! It's a really slimming, flattering style and I love the colour block element. It will be perfect for my Summer holiday for day or night. Now I just need a few accessories to match.

So come on girls, tell me.. what would you wear it with? Are you going to be sporting a maxi dress this year?

  1. Photo of you in it please! It looks lovely. I think I'm too short for one sadly xx

  2. I really want to buy one from select, but that one looks nice too!
I hate my arms so I'd wear a thin jersey cardi, sandals and loads of gold jewellery!

  3. i really wish i could find a nice flattering maxi for my frame. ive got boney shoulders and short legs and it seems all the ones i try on are too long or make me look too short! the one you picked is very lovely though!

  4. Oooo that's so lovely! I always get a bit scared of maxi dresses because I'm short and think I would look ridiculous, but nonetheless, I really want one. You could really dress it up for night with lots of gold bangles and necklaces.

  6. For night i'd go with wedges, lots of bangles and a clutch. In the day just with some glads probably. I love maxi dresses but they don't love me :(

  8. Ooooh that is lovely - nice stripes! I always love other people in maxis but don't feel confident in them myself, sad to say. If I was brave enough though I would wear it with a long, loose cardigan, some chunky rings, flats and wavy hair. xxx

  11. I had a similar conundrum with a maxi skirt! They're so flattering but quite tricky to style.

With this one, I'd probably jazz it up for festival season and wear it with a pale blue denim jacket and lots of jazzy bangles. Maybe some aviators? And possibly good old fashioned jelly-sandals :)
