R.I.P. Tufty
Tufty was my parents cat who they had for many years. When my Sister worked as a Veterinary Nurse Tufty was brought in as a stray and was swiftly adopted by our family.
He had the biggest character. He was one in a million. Before I moved out last year he would sleep in my bed with me under the covers and he would often wake me up with his trademark miaow which sounded more like a "quack"!
Last night he was knocked down and he managed to find his way to the house next door to my parents where they found him lying in their driveway. He was put to sleep due to the extent of his injuries.
I hope the person who didn't stop to see if he was ok can live with themselves.
Tufty you will be missed by everyone who met you (and cuddled you!)

Hun I'm so sorry for your loss! How can someone drive along and hit a defenceless(sp?) animal and then just drive on without any thought. It angers me so much! Rip Tufty, have fun in cat heaven! xxx

He looks like a real character! What a magnificent great big ball of fluff! It's horrible to loose a pet you love no matter how scaley or small!

aww so sad :( The same thing happened to my cat, however the car hit her at such a speed she died on the spot :( There some bad people out there. R.i.p Tufty! xx
RIP Tufty, he was absolutely beautiful. I can't believe the person didn't stop - how disgusting and shameful. I'm sure Tufty is happy in cat heaven. He's probably got his own little pond and bed with a duvet so he feels at home! I'm glad he's no longer suffering now, but understand completely how much you will miss him. Hope you are okay honey xxx

Like others have said, I bet Tufty is in Kitty heaven making hundreds of new kitty friends.
I think it is digusting that the driver didn't stop, but Karma will get them.

aw i'm so sorry, the same thing happened to my cat and he managed to get home too. it just proves how much he loved your family that he fought so hard to get back to you. I don't understand how someone could be so heartless and not stop to see if he was ok or to contact the owners!
I'm not really a big believer in heaven and stuff but I'm sure there is a place where all of the animals go and play and have everything they could want

That's so so sad :-( Poor Tufty, he looks absolutely gorgeous. I hate hit and run cases. When I was little my lovely cat Domino was hit by a car and made his way into our garden where he died under a crab apple tree. It still makes me sad to think about it. I have a soft spot for cats as is it, I don't know how someone could be cruel enough to drive away without checking. It's a horrible shock when a pet dies unexpectedly and so unfairly, but I can tell from your post that he was very much loved and taken care of throughout his life; he looks a very happy and contented cat. I hope you feel a bit better soon.

Try to take comfort in the fact that he was so loved and is probably being spoilt in cat heaven right now.

Im so sorry for your loss - the worst feeling is losing a pet, at least he's not suffering - putting him to sleep was the kindest thing you could do. I'm sure he will be in cat heaven thinking of all the happy memories he had with you :)

Aww this is so sad :( he looked like such a gorgeous fluffball! I can't believe someone wouldn't even stop to see if he was ok, or what he had hit! Some people are disgusting.
I can understand your pain too, had to have my cat put down in March. It does get better in time but the pain doesn't go away :( xxx

The exact same thing happened to a friend of mine's doggie a few weeks ago.It's so incredibly sad,I feel horrible for you and your parents.I can just imagine how sad you all are feeling,but I do hope that all the happy memories will soon bring a smile,and no more tears,to you.

Aww no lady, dont cry :( My grans cat Baloo had to get put down a few months ago and Ive never cried so much in my life. I adore cats and their characters, baloo loved a good cuddle too and you dont realise how much you miss them until theyre gone. Maybe Baloo and Tufty will share some catnip in heaven? :) its like loosing a family member, really hope you are alright though xx
