Walking at Roche Abbey.

5.5.13

Yesterday the four of us went for a stroll around Roche Abbey which is only a short drive away from where we live. Who'd have thought somewhere so peaceful and historical could be nestled away in Rotherham ay?!

The sun made an appearance for a little while so it made a welcome change to be out strolling with the dogs in the warmth, as they love a bit of sunny weather. But when the sun went behind the clouds it did get a trifle chilly.

As we had dogs with us we couldn't get into the main section to have a closer look but having a walk round the outside was really enjoyable and took about 30 minutes or so (with 2 Pugs who want to sniff everything) which is just about as long as they can walk for anyway.

We will definitely go back this year with a picnic in tow, to sit and enjoy the surroundings (and the picnic food of course!)

  12. Looks lovely. I just love taking little quick trips in my area and discover new places. Went to a lovely castle with the bf today which was only 30 min away but both of us never had been there before. You certainly don't have to travel far. There's something nice to see everywhere.

  16. That Abbey looks beautiful. It's so nice to see some sunshine. We went to a local castle today, but didn't think to take a picnic- we're still in shock about the fact we can actually sit outside! So we're doing it tomorrow instead. Hurrah for bank holidays! xx

  24. My dad, granddad and uncle were always taking me on walks around roach abby as a child. I used to love walking over those stepping stones, by the water fall! I used to find the place a little eery as a kid.
